Team signing is a feature that makes it easy for families and teams to use Casa's multisig vault technology jointly to secure funds.
With team signing, Private Clients and Enterprise customers can assign specific keys in their 5-key or 6-key vault to different people.
Team signing is available to all Private Clients and Enterprise at no additional cost. If you're currently a Private Client or Enterprise user and would like to add additional members to your vault, you can contact your Client Advisor for next steps.
How it works
The original account owner is designated as "Team Manager," and the additional users are key managers.
The Team Manager can use the Casa app to assign keys to different team members (up to 3 total hardware keys in a 3-of-5 vault or 4 total hardware keys in a 3-of-6 vault). Distributing keys increases physical security due to geographic dispersion (they aren't all sitting in one place), and it allows multiple decision-makers to sign off when funds are sent.
When a key manager is assigned a key, the request for a signature will go directly to them.
The Team Manager has control over who manages the keys after the keyset is set up, so if a spouse or colleague loses a key, you can safely rotate out their key and replace it with a new one.
The Team Manager can also request a health check from each teammate to ensure they still have access to their hardware device.
Since the keys are distributed among different people, we recommend running health checks once a month to ensure the keys are safe and accessible.
