In your Casa app, you'll notice that you have the option to use and interact with TETH (Testnet ethereum).
Not a Casa member yet? You can sign up here!
TETH refers to the coins that are sent on ethereum testnet. The testnet is an alternative ethereum blockchain, which is used for testing.
Testnet coins (TETH) are separate and distinct from actual ether (ETH), and do not have real value as an asset.
Why use TETH?
Having the option to enable and use a TETH wallet in your Casa app enables you to test your Casa key setup without having to use real ethereum.
Do I need to use TETH?
Using TETH is not required at all. It is simply an option to test the Casa systems.
How do I get TETH?
The Casa app uses the Sepolia testnet. You can obtain TETH on Sepolia by going to any number of TETH faucets available online.
One way to get Sepolia TETH is to create a free Alchemy account:
https://auth.alchemy.com/signup
Your alchemy account will enable you to use this Sepolia testnet faucet:
Note for testnet funds: You cannot receive to vault contract addresses. You must receive to your TETH Pay wallet first. From there, you can send to your TETH vault, if you wish.
How do I remove or hide the TETH wallet?
The TETH wallet is disabled by default in your Casa app, but you can toggle it on or off from your app's account page by selecting "Display testnets only."
Note that when this setting is toggled on, the app displays testnets only. To see actual BTC and ETH funds, you must toggle this setting off.
If you're using Testnet on a Ledger device, you need to make sure you have the Testnet ethereum app installed on your Ledger and are using that instead of the normal ethereum app. To install this from Ledger Live, you need to toggle on Developer Mode by going to Settings > Experimental features > Developer mode. Click "My Ledger" in Ledger Live's sidebar, then connect and unlock your Ledger. Enable Manager on the Ledger itself, then search for Ethereum Test and install the app on yourLedger. Without the Testnet ethereum app on the Ledger, you're able to sign Testnet transactions, but the addresses won't match.
