How to perform a health check with YubiKey
This guide details how to complete a health check in the Casa app using your YubiKey device.
TL;DR — A health check verifies that your YubiKey hardware key is accessible and ready to sign (authorize) a transaction. The process is triggered in the Casa app on your phone, then completed on a laptop or desktop with your YubiKey physically connected. It does not move any bitcoin from your vault and takes around 5 minutes.
What you'll need
-
The Casa app on your phone
-
A laptop or desktop computer with a USB port
-
Your Yubikey

- Tap “Perform Health Check”

Check your email and open the health check link
Casa will send an email from no-reply@mail.keys.casa to the address registered to your account. Open the email and click Begin Health Check. Open the link in Chrome on your laptop or desktop computer.
Connect your Yubikey and complete the health check
- Insert your YubiKey device into the USB port of your laptop or desktop computer.
- When your screen says "Waiting on YubiKey," tap the button on your YubiKey to approve the health check signature.
- A popup may show up showing your password manager (like 1Password or iCloud keychain) with the list of other passkeys that may be associated with your YubiKey. Close it with an X and continue with the instructions below.

- Tap on your YubiKey when it lights up.
- Add in your PIN and then tap your YubiKey again.
Your screen should show "Great work". You have successfully health checked your key. You've verified that your key is healthy and will be ready to sign when you need it!
