Adding YubiKey to your Casa vault

Casa supports YubiKey as a hardware security key for enhanced security in your vault. Follow these steps to add your YubiKey to Casa. 

Adding YubiKey to Casa

1. Open the Casa Mobile App: Launch the Casa app on your device.

2. Navigate to your desired vault Setup:

• For a 3-key vault: Tap “Set Up Hardware Key”.

• For a 5-key vault: Tap your desired key “Set Up Home/Safe/Office Key”.

3. Select YubiKey: Tap “YubiKey” from the list of hardware devices. Then tap "Continue".

• Tap "Send email". Open the email on your desktop or laptop computer, and press "Set up device". IMPORTANT: Make sure you open the link in Chrome. YubiKey set up will only work on your Chrome browser.

• Insert your YubiKey into a USB port on your computer and click "Continue".

• If you have any passkeys associated with 1Password or another cloud keychain, a pop up may open. Click on the "X" to close it, and continue following the prompts.

• The YubiKey pop-up will prompt you to set a PIN (if you don't already have one set up).
• Create your desired PIN, confirm your PIN, then select "NEXT" and tap your YubiKey when prompted to confirm. (The YubiKey should light up when you need to tap it.)
  • Important: Choose a PIN that you won't forget, or write it down and store it in a safe place.

• When you see the "Almost Done" screen, select "Finish Setup."

• When you see a screen similar to this or a screen with a QR code on it, just tap your YubiKey to proceed past the screen.

• Enter your PIN, then tap on your YubiKey one more time.

You will see a "Success" when your hardware key has been setup. Congratulations your YubiKey has been added to your Casa vault. 

At this point you can "Create Offline Backup" for your key, or skip. An Offline backup is the seed phrase associated with your Yubikey.
